I am doing something this year that I have not done before in my golfing life, I am buying new equipment when it is actually new. I am one of the types who waits a year and picks up my equipment when it goes on deep sale or clearance. But this year it is different, I am buying a new Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl 52 degree wedge.
I saw one of them at my local Sports Authority and it only took a couple of practice swings and a chip or two and I was hooked. I am going with the 52 degree to replace my current Adams Tom Watson 52 degree wedge. Not that there is anything wrong with my current wedge but I do find that I give up a lot of distance when I pick up the gap wedge compared to my Adams A20S 48 degree pitching wedge. This leaves me with the classic problem of getting into spots where my gapper is not enough but the pitcher is too much. So I tend to either try to muscle a Gap wedge and run the risk of yanking it straight left or worse, thinning it into the next county, or I try to choke down on my pitching wedge and run the risk of leaving it way short or long or maybe just right.
So that is the problem I am trying to fix and the new, really new Cleveland Wedge is the tool I have chosen. I will be writing more about this bold new chapter of my golf life. I have it ordered from TGW so I will also be writing about the service there too.
