If you are like me you probably try two or three different brands and types of balls a year. Well I am a sucker for marketing. My latest buy and try is the Bridgestone E5+. A two piece distance ball with a urethane cover. The marketing on this one says you get the performance of a two piece distance ball with the stopping power and greenside control of urethane. Well I must say it does deliver on both counts. These have distance comparable to the Titleist NXT but they do stop better. The only downside is the increase in sidespin off the driver. You had better not be fighting a slice or a hook because that too will be amplified. To be fair Bridgestone does a good job compensating for that with great dimple design. The E5+ is designed to be a lower trajectory ball and flighting them down does help with control. However, if you hit it pretty straight and are looking for distance but don’t want to give up stopping power, then by all means give the E5+ a try.
