Shoes are something that is very important, but I see a lot of guys out there that don’t change them often enough. I hear you, they are comfortable, you hate breaking them in, you can get at least one more season out of them. Well, I am here to tell you that you are missing out if you don’t change them out. I am someone who believes in walking courses, so I have a two season and out rule. Sounds harsh, and with shoe prices closing in on $200, down right wasteful. But it really is not. First, don’t buy them when you need them, look for off season bargains. When you start hearing of the trade shows right after Christmas, look for last year’s top of the line shoes and you will get a deal.
I did that this year by picking up a new pair, and for me, the first pair of FootJoys I have ever owned. To be specific, I picked up a pair of FootJoy D.N.A shoes at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Trading our my older Nike Lunar Control shoes. I really like the FootJoys because they remind me of my former favorite shoes, the Adidas Tour 360’s from a few years back. I actually went to Dick’s to find the new 360’s but instead really liked the D.N.A’s better and here is why. The FJ’s fit like a fine leather glove for your feet. In the store they were very snug but did not bind anywhere, the Nikes had a toe cup that folded right on my little toe. The FJ’s don’t have a toe cup design so just soft leather feel around my little toes now. I found the FJ’s run big, I sized down 1.5 from my Nike shoes. I recommend that you get them snug in the store, because like a good pair of gloves, they have conformed to my feet now, and I must say they are now my all-time favorite shoes.
Now I might keep a shirt far longer than I should but that is another story. Hit ’em straight!
